Wheels on Sunday 27th

Come one, come all this Sunday 27th of November to our workshop on Mabgate Green for a special session to help us fix wheels that have been donated. If you can service a hub and true a wheel, great. If you can’t yet they we will happily help you but it would be easiest if you came around 1pm so we only have to do the basics once. Then afterwards by using the stand, some patience, and luck we can get the wheels in our wheel rack to stop looking so broken.

We will be in the workshop from 12:30 – 5pm ish, feel free to pop down for a bit of the session. This session is for fixing wheels that have been donated to the Pedallers Arms and isn’t a regular drop-in. Regular drop-in sessions are on every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4-8pm.

Grand Re-Opening

The Pedallers Arms moved into its new home on Mabgate Green two weeks ago and since then there has been lots of activity building a workbench, wheel store, counter and a beautiful sign.

The weather was at best drizzling but still the 60m2 of warehouse on Mabgate Green was full.  Soon after opening all the stands were filled with wet cyclists repairing bikes then, after the bike repairing was over (and for the opening night only), there was some cake and ale.

New regular workshop session for women and trans people

As we get ready to open our new space, we are planning a new monthly session for anyone that would prefer to fix their bike in non macho environment. It is open to women, trans, queers or anyone that feels it is for them. As a project, we recognise that the cycling community is dominated by (straight) men and that many women have had negative experiences when taking their bikes into shops where all the mechanics are male. We hope that this new session will provide an antidote to that, where no problem is too small and no one will snatch a spanner from your hand.

Our womens’ sessions will run from 12-5pm on the 3rd Sunday of each month, beginning on the 16th October.

Pedallers finds a new home

Hello,

Pedallers’ Arms has a new home! We will be located on the ground floor of one end of 37-38 Mabgate Green, Sheepscar, LS9 7DS. Where the big red doors are.

We haven’t got the keys yet but as soon as we have sorted out the space we’ll send a final put up a post announcing the new opening times and having an opening. If you’d like to help us move next Monday 26th then contact us.

For anyone who paid for membership we will add an extra 6 months on.

Why has it taken so long, we hear you ask? Well we have honestly been trying really hard! We don’t really have much money and we have a list of requirements so it hasn’t been easy and it has taken quite a long time, particularly after one false start. All of us Pedallers’ would like to say thanks for your support, this is a big reason why we felt that the end of the Common Place shouldn’t be the end of Pedallers.

Sorry it has taken so long; we hope you’re as excited as we are and hope to see you all soon!

Looking again…

Hi folks, So as it’s turned out the space that we found to move into isn’t going to work out for us. Which is a shame as we’ve been without a home for a while now and spending a lot of time looking for somewhere new with not much luck! But such is life…

Can you help? This is what we need:

Essential

– 55m^2 (600 sq ft) working space

– 10m^3 (650 cubic feet) for storage

– Access to a toilet and sink

– Light

– Reasonably central location

– Lockable

Desirable

– Enough space for a social area

– High enough ceilings to suspend bikes, frames etc above head height.

– City centre location

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Do you know somewhere that might suit us? You can get in touch at info@pedallers-arms.org.

Spring Bank Bike Ride

It’s another bank holiday! Oil up your chains and adjust your saddles! This looks like a good ride (around 30 miles beginning to end) which is mainly on nice country roads. We could turn back at Wetherby or carry on to York. There’s some hills but let’s take it nice and easy 🙂 Out-of-practice riders especially welcome. Bring a picnic. Whaddaya say? Invite more people…. 🙂
