Hi, Unfortunately we’ve not managed to cover this Saturday 5th as we’re all busy… So we’ll be closed. Sorry! Open next week as usual. This Saturday is the CTC Cyclenation Conference taking place here in Leeds http://www.leedscyclingcampaign.co.uk/?q=conference/

We have some lovely stickers at Pedallers’ (thanks very much to Chucho who again did the lovely designs).  They are yours for 30p or membership and you can go stick them where you like.  We now have stickers, badges, t-shirts.

Summer is nearly over (maybe it is over) and the Pedallers’ mechanics are back from their holidays.  We will return to our normal opening times Mon, Wed, Thu 4-8pm and Sat noon – 4pm except this Sat (7th) we are closed for training.  Every third Sunday is for women and transgender people, so the next one is Sun 15ht of Oct.

The workshop is busier than ever which is exciting and we have 199 members!  Thanks to all the people who give time to make Pedallers’ Arms function.

We hope that you’re all enjoying the sunshine and getting out and about on your bikes. The workshop has been pretty busy over the last few months, which is great. Keep spreading the word!
We just wanted to let you know that we’re reducing the number of sessions a bit for the last few weeks of August, so that we can all have a bit of a break. We’re going to be closed the last three Thursdays and Saturdays in August, but open as usual 4 – 8pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. 

Then normal opening days and hours will resume.

We recently received great news about funding from go:cycling to enable us buy new stands and tools.  It will also allow us to start providing accredited cycle mechanic courses.  Thank you very much to go:cycling!

go:cycling is coordinated by Metro and is being provided in partnership with West Yorkshire’s five local authorities and CTC (the national cycling charity). It is supported by the Department for Transport through the Local Sustainable Transport Fund

Our rack of t-shirts

So after some time we have T-shirts ready for sale! They are in many different colours and sizes with the logo in black or pink.  We have long sleeve or short sleeve.  The T-shirts are made by Gildan and as far as t-shirt manufacturers go we rated them as eco, ethical, good quality and affordable.  They are on a rack at the workshop so if you fancy supporting Pedallers’ grab one.

At Pedallers’ we have mixed feelings about helmets.  Here is an well written, thorough article from CTC on helmet wearing, and helmet laws.

As American cycle campaigners persuade the US safety authorities to drop a key claim for the effectiveness of helmets, and new evidence suggesting that Canada’s helmet laws had no detectable effect, the BMA’s stance on helmet laws is questioned by Ben Goldacre of ‘Bad Science’ fame.

Just in case you were worried we would be out cycling this Bank Holiday don’t worry: we are open this Saturday noon – 4pm and Monday 4 – 8 pm. After the hailstones and freezing cold of Thu and Fri we hope it warms up.

Thank you to all the people who have donated bikes, we are very happy to accept donations of second-hand bikes but none of us have cars so they’d need to be dropped off at the workshop.

Even though it is hot and sunny (so we’d like to be riding) we are open this Bank Holiday Monday.  If you have bike troubles or have just been cycling in the Dales come down to do some repairs.
