On Friday 13th December 2019 we will be hosting a talk with Emily Chappell. This will take place 18:30 – 20:30. Due to the level of interest we will be holding this event at the Hyde Park Book Club, 27 – 29 Headingley Lane, Leeds, LS6 1BL. This event is FREE but please book a place so that we have an idea of numbers and can contact you with details of any venue changes.
Emily Chappell is an author, adventurer and advocate, known for her long-distance bicycle journeys and the words with which she shares them. Emily visited us in 2016 to share stories from her first book, What Goes Around, and this time she will tell the improbable story of how she ended up winning the 4,000km Transcontinental race across Europe, read aloud from Where There’s A Will, and answer questions about every aspect of cycling and writing books.
Unfortunately we will be closed tomorrow due to staff illness.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
Pedallers’ Arms volunteers are all back from our summer break. The workshop is tidy and we are refreshed, hope you are too. If you’ve got any bike issues please come down to any of our public drop-in sessions and we will try to help. If you’ve any questions please email or ring us, we’re looking forward to helping you fix up your bike.
Pedallers’ mechanics will be taking a much needed break from the end of July until the end of August.
Our last session before closing will be Thursday the 25th of July. We will then take five weeks off before reopening on Monday the 2nd of September.
Enjoy your summer!
We are OPEN on Monday May 6th (May Day) Bank Holiday with our usual 4-8pm times, woop! Thanks very much to the Monday volunteers. On Monday 27th May (the following bank holiday) we will be closed.
The sessions have started to get a bit busier as the weather improves so try come as early as you can so we’ve time to help you get your bike fixed.
Unfortunately we are closed this Thursday (28th March). We had some unexpected issues so we would be to short staffed to open, sorry about that! For the past few months the Thursday has been quiet so if your wanted to come and do some repair work then it would be a good day. This is a one off and other than this our opening hours remain the same: Mon, Wed, Thu 4 – 8pm.
We are taking a break over the Christmas period as usual.
The last drop-in session will be next Thursday 13th December, and we will re-open in the new year on Monday 7th January.
Season’s greetings, and keep safe and warm whilst cycling in the cold weather!
Do you have a bike stored at Pedallers?
If yes, please come and collect it!
We need to clear out all the ‘project bikes’ that are stored upstairs by the end of the year.
If you have not collected your bike by Thursday 15th November, we will have to remove all remaining bikes.
All bikes left uncollected will be recycled and/or put towards a good cause.
Pedallers’ Arms team
Pedallers’ is going to close for a summer break. The last shift will be Thursday 26th July and the workshop will re-open on Monday 3rd September,
Many thanks to the new volunteers that we’ve had the last few weeks who have helped keep the workshop open. We hope you’ll all be back too in September!
Have a great August everyone and see you in September!
On Thu June 21st we will be closed due to a staff shortage.
In fact we are a little short of volunteers at Pedallers’ Arms so we’re recruiting new people. Would you be interested in an opportunity to volunteer one 4-hour shift per week, on either Monday, Wednesday or Thursday, 4 – 8pm? We’re looking for people who are:
- Reliable: able commit to making the shift most weeks.
- Personable: keen to impart knowledge of cycle repair to a wide range of people from many walks of life with patience.
- Enthusiastic about the aims and ethos of Pedallers’
- Willingness to ask other mechanics when your unsure and experience in the art of bike repair, especially at tasks commonly needed on older bikes.
Pedallers’ relies completely on volunteers and since its creation in 2010 has been 100% volunteer controlled and run. For various reasons some of our established volunteer mechanics cannot work regular shifts so we’re looking for some new people. A different group of people works on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday so it’s worth dropping-in on the shift you’re interested in to find out more, as well as having a read of our Volunteering page.
