Beijing Bicycle transplants the theme of the classic Italian movie “Bicycle Thieves” to modern day China. In a city of a million bicycles Guei, a young man from the country, is making his way in the capital by working as a bicycle courier. From his wage he is gradually paying off the cost of his bike. Just as he is about to make the final payment, it is stolen and he finds himself suddenly without a job and devoid of status. He embarks on a frantic search to get it back
